The treatment scheme is operating fully and performing very well

All three ponds are operating, removing the majority of the harmful metals (zinc and cadmium) from the mine water. There have been no reports of odours.

Treatment trials at Nent Haggs mine water treatment scheme site

In January we advised that short-term trials of an alternative treatment technology would be commencing on site in February for a couple of months, these are now underway. This trial is not investigating an alternative to the Nent Haggs treatment pond approach but is part of ongoing WAMM Programme research into various potential treatment technologies.

Restoration of the former construction compound

Work has begun to restore the former construction compound across the road from the Nent Haggs mine water treatment scheme back to agricultural land in line with the agreement we have with the landowner. The initial phase of work has finished and the team will return in spring when the ground is less wet to complete the works by placing top soil.
