Dalkeith update: 22 April 2026

Update to our works at Old Fordell Tunnel

Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst our pumping operations continue to control the underground water levels.

Community meeting

We have reviewed several options for a permanent pipeline solution and would like to share these with residents at a community event in May.

We would like to invite residents to attend a community meeting, where we will provide an update on our work and the permanent pipeline solution.

This is an opportunity to learn more about the options we have reviewed, ask questions and stay informed. We will also make this information available on our community website for those that are unable to attend the meeting.

Meeting details:

Date: 13 May 2026

Time: 5.30pm

Venue: The Miners Welfare Club, 8 Woodburn Road, Dalkeith, EH22 2AT

Works at our mine water treatment site

Week commencing 6 May for approximately for 2 weeks, work will commence to lay the foundations for the new building at our mine water treatment site. During this period, residents may notice an increase in construction deliveries to support the concrete pour and, where required for safety, extended working hours. We apologise for any disruption this may cause, if you do have concerns, please do reach out to our Community Liaison Officer.

You can find out more about our Dalkeith mine water treatment programme on our website.
