Dalkeith update: 21 May 2026

Update to our works at Old Fordell Tunnel

Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst our pumping operations continue to control the underground water levels.

Community meeting

Thank you  to those who were able to attend the Community meeting on 13 May at Dalkeith Miners Welfare Club. We appreciated the opportunity to update you on our work and share our plans for a permanent pipeline solution.

We shared a presentation explaining what had happened, the work we have done so far and further information about our plans going forward. A copy of this presentation can be found on our community page under ‘further information’.

There was also an opportunity for residents to ask questions during the meeting. A copy of the questions and answers is available on our community page under ‘further information’.

For those residents who were unable to attend the meeting we have included the link to the recording here: https://youtu.be/YQdnr4tN24A. We will arrange a further community meeting before work on the permanent pipeline begins.

If you would prefer to receive a copy of the questions and answers by email or post, please contact our customer service team at customerservice@miningremediation.gov.uk or telephone 0345 762 6848
