Camberwell Drive update: 24 April 2026
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience as we progress the remediation works at Camberwell Drive.
We have made good progress since our last update. This week, we have experienced an issue with the delivery of the correct concrete mix required for the piling holes, which has delayed the start of the next phase of works. We apologise for this delay and any inconvenience it may cause. We now anticipate that the next phase of works will start in the week commencing 18 May.
Temporary one-way system on Camberwell Drive
In our last update, we notified you about the one-way system that will be in place for up to 32 weeks. To ensure the safety of residents and those working on site, a small section of one lane on Camberwell Drive has been closed.
We understand this may be inconvenient for road users and appreciate your patience. The current system was introduced in partnership with Tameside Council to help traffic move more smoothly along the route, as an alternative to a three-way traffic light management system. We have received feedback from residents that some road users have not always followed the one-way system, which can increase the risk of accidents. If you are travelling through the area, please follow the one-way signs and take extra care so everyone can move around safely.
We will keep you updated throughout the works and will reopen the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents will continue to have access to their driveways for the duration of the works.
