Dewar Avenue update: 09 October 2025
Following our last update, we wanted to bring you up to date on our progress.
The Community Centre
We recognise that the community centre is a valuable resource for local residents. We have carried out some initial drilling and grouting around the centre to stabilise the ground. We will start further repairs at the community centre at the end of October and expect to complete these in February 2026. These works should mean the community centre will be safe to fully reopen, and we will liaise with Fife Council, as the owner of the community centre, about this.
Options for land re-use
We understand that residents will be keen to understand what will happen to the land where the demolished properties once stood. We’ve started work to lay stone in the area which we should complete before the end of November. The area will remain securely fenced for a period of six months after we’ve completed these works to allow us to monitor for any further ground movement. The results of this monitoring will help us to design appropriate permanent ground stabilisation plans.
Based on our findings, we’ll work with Fife Council and other stakeholders to consider alternative uses for the ground around the demolished houses.
Ongoing monitoring
To provide reassurance to the local community, we’re continuing to monitor the ground around the collapse, and in the wider area.
Next update
We will provide a further update on the progress of the works in November.
