Camberwell Drive update: 20 March 2026
We would like to thank residents for their continued patience as we progress the remediation works at Camberwell Drive.
We are pleased to confirm that the project remains on schedule and we will be moving into the next phase of works. This will include installing piles and the mine shaft cap, and reinstatement of the area.
Notice of temporary one-way system on Camberwell Drive
From Monday 23 March Camberwell Drive a one-way system will will be in place for up to 32 weeks. To ensure the safety of residents and those working on site, a small section of one lane on Camberwell Drive will need to be closed.
To minimise disruption and allow traffic to move safely around Camberwell Drive, we have agreed with Tameside Council to introduce a one‑way system. This will operate in a clockwise direction, making it easier for traffic to travel along this route. You can see a copy of the plan in further information, showing the location of the lane closure and the direction of travel, along with the signage that will be in place.
We will keep you updated throughout the works and will reopen the road as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents will continue to have access to their driveways for the duration of the works.
We understand that these changes may cause some inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we complete this important stage of the project. We will continue to work closely with Tameside Council and local transport providers to keep disruption to a minimum.
