Camberwell Drive update: 14 November 2025
Installation of the Bailey Bridge and local arrangements
We want to thank you for your ongoing your patience and understanding as we continue the essential work to remediate the mine shaft at Camberwell Drive. Your cooperation is making a real difference, helping us keep the project running smoothly for the benefit and safety of everyone in the community.
Earlier this week, our team successfully assembled and installed the temporary working platform, completing this important step slightly ahead of schedule. We worked hard to minimise disruption and we’re grateful for your flexibility during this time.
We’re pleased to let you know that the temporary traffic management measures have now been lifted and the road has fully reopened. The local bus route will also return to normal. We understand that these changes have been inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience with this.
Temporary car park
Thank you to everyone who moved their vehicles to the temporary car park to help us proceed without interruption this week. Access to driveways has now been restored. The temporary car park will remain available for future use if we need to restrict access again and we’ll always give you as much notice as possible.
Upcoming works
Next week, we will carry out further tests to record the ground conditions around the mine shaft. Once we have completed these, we will start our works to stabilise the mine shaft, which will involve drilling and grouting at a depth of 60m below ground level. We understand that drilling can be noisy at times, and we’re sorry for any disruption this may cause. To minimise any impact on the surrounding area, we will also use specialist grout mixing equipment. Please be assured that we’ll do everything we can to minimise the noise and its impact.
